The ALDinHE and Swansea University invite you to submit a proposal to the Embedding Academic Study Skills Regional Symposium. We welcome colleagues from other universities and higher education providers to share their approaches to embedding academic study skills within modules and programmes of study.
We are accepting proposals for the following:
Workshop: A 30-minute presentation on approaches to embedding study skills focused either on a particular skill across a range of subjects or on subject specific skills followed by up to 30 minutes of Q & A and discussion.
Lightning talk: A ten minute presentation on a relevant support mechanism or approach followed by 5 minutes of Q & A.
- Lead a discussion on the issues and choices around embedding study skills and/or providing standalone development support.
- Lead a discussion on the challenges of engaging students from groups underrepresented in higher education.
We are interested both in work which has been evaluated and new approaches which are still being piloted. The study skills may be academic e.g. critical thinking, referencing, or numeracy, or others such as time management, building resilience or group work.
Please submit your proposal by email to firstname.lastname@example.org including your preferred type of session (workshop/lightning talk/ roundtable), a title, abstract, session summary and brief details for each presenter including email address and phone number.
The deadline for proposals is Monday 5th March 2018.
